Joining the Climate Alliance

Jena has been a member of the Climate Alliance since the end of January 2021. True to the mission statement "For local answers to global climate change", Jena, together with over 1,800 member municipalities in 27 European countries, is now committed to even greater involvement in climate protection and climate justice. Climate Alliance municipalities stand for a holistic and solidarity-based approach to climate protection. They also commit to reducing their CO2 emissions by at least 10 percent every five years.

Members of the Climate Alliance receive support in the implementation of climate protection measures and benefit from the network's many years of experience. The Climate Alliance provides instruments for CO2 monitoring as well as campaigns on topics such as mobility, energy and resource use. The "CITY CYCLING" campaign, in which Jena has participated for many years, is one of the best-known campaigns of the Climate Alliance. The network also promotes the interests of member municipalities at national and European level.
